MUSIC
CSM BRIEF
To conceptualize an alternative idea to advertise a popular music clip.
APPROACH
Music is generally used as a tool for social cohesion, however in my interpretation of Hollywood, I have by Illustration introduced the tagline: ‘Hollywood, whether for good or bad brings people together forever, derived from the song ‘Hollywood’ by Madonna.
The song can be regarded as a positive or negative analogy of people’s expectations of the suburb’s hopes and dreams. Thus, by appropriating people’s fantasies and desires, I have created a visual satire juxtaposing the typeface ‘Hollywood’ as an expression of ’Art and Language.'
OUTCOME
I have appropriated ‘Art and Language’ to identify with each selected word and through analysis, created visuals within the context of Madonna’s song ‘Hollywood’. By interpretation, we can conceive similarities of the song’s hopes and dreams as popular culture and adopt these visuals as relevant and essential.
